One of our favourite compressors in our studios. It's versatile super fast so it makes it great to run drum tracks through it but also vocals and guitars. We have two of them in Studio A so we can run stereo tracks through them 🥁 @empiricallabs⁠ ⁠

Our beautiful Studio A is ready for the day 🎶⁠

Today’s build update is about the initial acoustic measurements of our new studio!🔬 In an effort to make the studio sound great we measured and calculated the reverberation time of the room giving us important insights into potential room modes and other issues. Taking that data to build a model of the studio allowed us to design the studios with the right amount of absorption and diffusion needed. As well as trying different layouts and finding out the sizes and material specifications of our panels 🔊. You can try the free software ‘Room EQ Wizard’ and get a measuring mic to get started with measuring the frequency response of your speakers in your studio as well!✌🏼

Since the last time we’ve updated you about the studio build a lot has happened.🔨 We’ve built a floating floor and suspended ceilings to fully isolate the room and added a layer of our beautiful Scandi wooden floorboards on top. The ventilation system we’ve installed changes the air in the studio up to 10x an hour to let in fresh air - all while being super quiet! This makes it comfortable to work in and safe.💨 In the booth we’ve built huge bass traps and have integrated video and audio links into the wall. This connects to the control room as well as our other studios! Lastly we’ve turned the studios into a “Wood Workshop” as Kris would call it to build our custom furniture - keep an eye out for the next posts on that!🪚
